Democracy for America Endorses Tammy Duckworth and Deborah Ross for U.S. Senate

BURLINGTON, VT – This morning, Democracy for America (DFA) announced its endorsement of Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth and former State Representative Deborah Ross in their races for the U.S. Senate in Illinois and North Carolina.

Both Duckworth and Ross won the Democratic nomination following Tuesday’s Democratic primaries in their respective states and, if victorious in November, would take their seat in the Senate from a right-wing Republican Party so bent on partisan obstruction that it’s not even willing to consider President Obama’s recent Supreme Court nominee.

Statement from Democracy for America's Chair Jim Dean on today's endorsement of Duckworth and Ross:

“With a supreme court nomination and countless pieces of critical legislation hanging in the balance, it’s now more important than ever for grassroots progressives to help take the Senate back from the right-wing Republican obstruction artists who currently control it.

“We’re excited to support Tammy Duckworth and Deborah Ross because we know their victories will help ensure the U.S. Senate can start clearing the backlog of critical populist progressive priorities we need to help us combat growing income inequality, money’s outsized role in our political process, and structural racism.”-- Jim Dean, Chair, Democracy for America

Democracy for America (DFA) is a member-driven, people-powered progressive PAC with more than 59,000 members in Illinois, over 36,000 in North Carolina, and one million members nationwide committed to taking on income inequality, money in politics, and structural racism.

DFA’s endorsement of Duckworth and Ross brings with it a one-million member-strong grassroots army that has knocked hundreds of thousands of doors, made over 11 million phone calls, and raised and contributed more than $32.7 million to help elect 843 progressive candidates nationwide since 2004.
