VICTORY: DFA revels in Ammar Campa-Najjar win in California’s 50th Congressional District

This afternoon, the Associated Press declared Ammar Campa-Najjar the winner of one of the top-two spots in the race to flip California's 50th Congressional District to Democrats in November.

DFA Chair Jim Dean on Campa-Najjar primary victory in the CA-50:

"Ammar Campa-Najjar won a top-two spot in this critical primary race because he ran a campaign not beholden to Washington insiders, committed to an inclusive populist agenda focused on big ideas like Medicare for All, and welcomed in the New American Majority of people of color and progressive white voters Democrats need to transform the country.

"The simple reality is that red districts like California's 50th District aren't going to be won by candidates running on stale Republican-lite ideas or campaigns that continue to focus everything on trying to swing ever dwindling numbers of 'persuadable' center-right voters. Having a bold, visionary candidate like Ammar Campa-Najjar in California's 50th District gives us more than a fighting chance in tough terrain, and we couldn't be more excited to fight alongside him all the way through November." -- Jim Dean, Chair, Democracy for America
