Personally and professionally, I have focused on building and empowering communities where people can live in safe, nurturing environments and realize their full potential. Over the years, I have held positions in: housing, redevelopment, environmental protection, rural resources, Black land loss, sustainable farming, farmworker rights, and sustainable forestry for Black and traditionally marginalized landowners.

In 2012, I was elected to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners. I now am in my third term, and currently serve as chair. The fight for freedom and justice for all is why I want to serve as the next representative for NC House District 50.
