I am an Afro-Latina daughter of a single mom, who grew up in rural eastern Washington. In and out of foster care, reliant on the social safety net for food and housing security, I learned at an early age, the impact that government can have on the well-being of folks growing up like me. When my mother relapsed into her substance abuse in my teenage years, I found myself homeless and again, relying on amazing public school educators to support me.

I believe in a democracy that prevents insecurity for those farthest from opportunity and builds a path of hope and support to create equity and inclusion for all.
