I grew up in a family where service to the community was a way of life. I have a lifetime history of being of service, from Girl Scouts to an engaged activist for women’s rights and women’s healthcare as well as an active environmentalist since high school. I co-founded the Michigan Council of Women in Technology where I became committed to improving our public education.

After the 2016 presidential election, I jumped into increased activism for national issues, and engaged with Voters Not Politicians locally. As 2017 progressed, I felt I had more I could bring to the massive problems we are facing. My research from March to June of 2017 led me to decide that my best and highest purpose at this time would be to become a public servant full time. After working as a state senator since 2019, it is clear to me that this is where I belong and where I can make the most difference, especially during this time when so many of our freedoms and civil liberties are at risk.
