Democracy for America endorses Jacky Rosen for U.S. Senate in Nevada

Today, Democracy for America (DFA) announced its endorsement of Jacky Rosen for U.S. Senate in Nevada.

DFA's endorsement of Rosen comes just days after the U.S. Senate Senate, in an overwhelmingly Republican vote, approved the nomination of accused sexual assault perpetrator Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Chair Jim Dean on DFA's endorsement of Jacky Rosen for U.S. Senate:

"Jacky Rosen's race for the U.S. Senate gives Nevadans a chance to replace a Senator that Donald Trump has beaten into submission, with a relentless champion for working families. Jacky Rosen understands that healthcare is a human right, no human being is illegal, and a $15 an hour minimum wage and the protections of a union are the very least that Nevada workers deserve. She gets the important moment in the fight for racial and economic justice we're in, and that's why Democracy for America is standing with Jacky Rosen in this election.

"But the race for Senate in Nevada is also about a lot more.

"After watching the shockingly vile conclusion of the Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings, it's more clear than ever that, as progressives, we have to do everything we can to break the chokehold the fringe right has on the levers of power in Washington. With tens of millions disgusted by what they saw in Washington over the last few weeks, Democrats have a clear opportunity to take control of the Senate despite the tough 2018 map, and we're excited to work alongside Jacky Rosen to help seize it." -- Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America

Jacky Rosen on receiving DFA's endorsement:

"There are so many important fights ahead of us, like getting big money out of politics, protecting our Dreamers and immigrant families, fighting for a livable minimum wage, defending reproductive rights -- and hardworking Nevadans deserve another Senator committed to these fights. I believe health care is a right, not a privilege for just the wealthy few -- and that's why I've worked to ensure every Nevadan has access to quality, affordable care. I am honored to have the support of Democracy for America as we work to replace Senator Heller and flip this seat." -- Jacky Rosen

DFA is a national progressive political organization with 9,850 members in Nevada and more than 1 million members across the country.

Today, DFA also endorsed Mike Espy in the November 2018 special election for U.S. Senate in Mississippi. Victories by Espy and Rosen, along with a win by DFA-backed Beto O'Rourke in Texas, may be critical to helping Democrats flip control of the Senate and halt the Trump administration's efforts to appoint more unfit, fringe right-wing individuals to government and judicial positions.

As a part of its work in the 2018 election cycle, DFA intends to raise and spend more than $12 million in support of progressive candidates, make more than 2 million voter contacts, and support more than 250 candidates nationwide -- like Rosen -- in running inclusive populist campaigns committed to turning out the New American Majority of people of color and progressive white voters in November.

Democracy for America is a member-driven, people-powered progressive PAC with more than one million members nationwide committed to taking on income inequality, money in politics, and structural racism. Since its 2004 founding, DFA members have raised and contributed more than $54 million and made more than 21.9 million volunteer calls to help successfully elect 917 progressive candidates nationwide.
