Democracy for America endorses Jim Mowrer in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District
BURLINGTON, VT – Today, Democracy for America (DFA) announced its endorsement of Jim Mowrer in his race against Republican David Young in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District.
DFA is a member-driven, people-powered progressive PAC with 13,890 members in Iowa and one million members nationwide committed to taking on income inequality, money in politics, and structural racism.
Statement from DFA Chair Jim Dean on the grassroots organization’s endorsement of Jim Mowrer:
“We’re supporting Jim Mowrer in this race because he’s running precisely the kind of grassroots, people-powered campaign that will win in November and continue the fight to raise the minimum wage, enact paid family and medical leave, and confront a corrupt campaign finance system long after election day.
“With an unprecedented number of millionaires and a record low number of veterans in Congress right now, it’s more important than ever that we get a progressive leader in the U.S. House with a record of service to his state and his country like Jim Mowrer.
“Democracy for America members in Iowa and across the country are proud to stand with Jim Mowrer in his bid for Congress and we look forward to helping add the grassroots boots on the grounds and the voices on the phone it’ll take to get him there.” -- Jim Dean, Chair, Democracy for America.
Statement from Jim Mowrer on receiving Democracy for America’s endorsement:
"My campaign is about prioritizing Iowa's working families and middle class. We need more people dedicated to service and less people dedicated to playing political games.
“My campaign is driven by grassroots support from across Iowa and with the support of organizations like Democracy for America we will be successful in November and put main street ahead of Wall Street."" -- Jim Mowrer
DFA’s endorsement of Mowrer brings with it a one-million member-strong grassroots army that has knocked hundreds of thousands of doors, made over 11.1 million phone calls, and raised and contributed more than $36.6 million to help elect 843 progressive candidates nationwide since 2004.
