DFA backs Pam Keith in Florida’s 18th Congressional District primary
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Today, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed Pam Keith in her race to represent Florida's 18th Congressional District.
Democracy for America has 79,997 members in Florida including 3,486 members in Florida's 18th Congressional District alone.
DFA Chair Jim Dean on the grassroots progressive organization's decision to back Pam Keith in her battle to represent the FL-18 in Congress:
"Democracy for America is excited to endorse Pam Keith's campaign for Congress because she's running the kind of inspiring and energizing grassroots campaign Democrats need to win a lasting majority in the U.S. House this fall.
"In Congress, Pam Keith is committed to holding Donald Trump accountable for the hate-fueled actions his grotesquely corrupt administration has taken in office, but she's also focused on fighting for inclusive populist priorities, like Medicare for All and robust criminal justice reform, that Democrats need to pursue if we want to hold on to power beyond this one election."A veteran and woman of color deeply committed to progressive values, Pam Keith is throwing everything she can into this race so she can get to Congress and fight for the working families of Florida's 18th District. Democracy for America members are honored to stand with Pam in this primary, and we look forward to battling alongside her all the way through November." -- Jim Dean, Chair, Democracy for America
Pam Keith on receiving DFA's grassroots endorsement:
"Our people-powered movement is getting attention everywhere. We are honored to join the family and receive the support of progressive heavy hitter, Democracy For America. The stakes have never been higher, the fight is right here, and we are so proud to have DFA fighting with us." -- Pam Keith
As a part of its work in the 2018 election cycle, DFA intends to raise and spend more than $12 million in support of progressive candidates, make more than 2 million voter contacts, and support more than 250 candidates nationwide -- like Pam Keith -- in running inclusive populist campaigns committed to turning out the New American Majority of people of color and progressive white voters in November.
Born into a U.S. Navy family, Pam Keith is a veteran who was first able to learn about the positive role the United States could play in the world while her family served the county in Morocco, Syria, and Brazil in the U.S. Foreign Service. Later, while living in Lexington, KY, Keith's first-hand experience with the discrimination she faced as one of only African-Americans in her neighborhood fueled a passion for equality and justice that pushed her to earn degrees at U.C. Davis, Boston College Law School, and eventually become a commissioned Judge Advocate in the U.S. Navy. Today, Keith is working to get to Congress to fight for big, bold inclusive populist reforms that will help black, brown, and white working families in Florida's 18th congressional district thrive.
Democracy for America is a member-driven, people-powered progressive PAC with more than one million members nationwide committed to taking on income inequality, money in politics, and structural racism. Since its 2004 founding, DFA members have raised and contributed more than $54 million and made more than 21.9 million volunteer calls to help successfully elect 917 progressive candidates nationwide.
