DFA backs Rob Quist in Montana At-Large Special Congressional Election

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Today, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed musician Rob Quist in his campaign for Congress in Montana (MT-AL). DFA has 6,460 members in Montana and one million members nationwide.

The national progressive group also simultaneously endorsed James Thompson (KS-4), another Democrat running in a special election to fill a seat left open by a Republicans who has joined Donald Trump’s cabinet.  Earlier in March, DFA endorsed John Ossoff in his race to replace a Trump appointee in Georgia's 6th Congressional District.

All three Trump appointee special elections offer an important opportunity for Democrats to develop the grassroots base in historically red districts and demonstrate the electoral reach of the rapidly growing grassroots resistance movement that’s standing up to Donald Trump across the country.

DFA Chair Jim Dean on the organization’s endorsement of Quist:

“The contrast could not be more stark in the race for Montana’s Congressional seat. Rob Quist is committed to fighting for single-payer health care and protecting public lands for future generations of Montanans to enjoy.

“Rob Quist is not only a better choice than his anti-Science billionaire opponent from New Jersey, he’s running the grassroots, issues-focused campaign that Democrats across the country need to if they’re going to defeat Donald Trump and his cronies in Congress

“In Montana and across the country, millions are looking for ways to stand up and confront Donald Trump’s agenda of hate, division, and giveaways to the super rich and it’s hard to find a better outlet than Rob Quist’s bold race for Congress.”  -- Jim Dean, Chair, Democracy for America

Rob Quist on receiving DFA’s endorsement:

“From protecting our public lands to fighting for quality, affordable health care, Montanans want a Congressman who will stand up to special interests and put Montana first. The contrast in this race couldn't be clearer, and I'll work every day for Montana families." -- Rob Quist
