DFA endorses Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, Tlaib for reelection ahead of House anti-hate vote

As the U.S. House is set to vote on a congressional anti-hate resolution originally proposed to admonish Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Democracy for America (DFA) announced that it is endorsing Omar and her strongest supporters in Congress -- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) -- for reelection in 2020.

These are DFA's very first 2020 election cycle endorsements. The endorsements were made in response to the tremendous acts solidarity and support all four have shown each over the first two months of the new Congress, and the direct political threats leveled against Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, and Tlaib over the last week.

DFA backed all four members of Congress -- frequently referred to as The Squad -- in their competitive 2018 primaries. The grassroots organization has more than 19,036 members spread across their four congressional districts.

Chief Executive Officer Yvette Simpson on DFA's endorsement early 2020 endorsement of Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, and Tlaib:
