DFA says Puzder withdrawal is “a temporary stay of execution” for US workers

News is breaking this afternoon that Andrew Puzder will withdraw his nomination for Secretary of Labor, a move that comes less than a day after Democracy for America members began ramping up the pressure against his nomination.

Here's a reaction to Puzder's impending nomination withdrawal from Democracy for America's Charles Chamberlain:

"Reports that Andrew Puzder has decided to withdraw his name from consideration to be the next Secretary of Labor is a temporary stay of execution for working families in our country.

"Like many names Donald Trump has put forward, Andrew Puzder was profoundly ill-equipped to do the job of standing up for workers' rights and unable to withstand scrutiny from anyone outside of Trump's chorus of sycophants in Congress and on Wall Street.

"Americans deserve a Secretary of Labor who will fight for a living wage, pay equity for women, and workers' right to organize. While we're sadly confident that the billionaire bigot in the White House will put forward yet another candidate for Labor Secretary that will seek to muzzle working people, today is a small, but important victory for working families and the multiracial, multi-generational resistance movement that's standing up to Trump's hate." -- Charles Chamberlain, Executive Director, Democracy for America
