DFA: Senate witness vote “most dramatic display… of political cowardice ever seen in Congress”
This evening, Senate Republicans blocked a vote to allow witnesses in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump.
Democracy for America Executive Director Yvette Simpson released the following statement in response to Senate Republicans' disgraceful vote blocking impeachment trial witnesses:
"Tonight's vote on witnesses by Senate Republicans is one of the most dramatic displays of political cowardice ever seen in Congress. Afraid of Donald Trump and the truth that might be revealed by the witnesses and documents his administration has worked to hide, Senate Republicans have become active co-conspirators in a White House cover-up and the blatant shredding of core constitutional principles.
"Whether the final vote in this sham Senate trial happens tonight or next week, it won't be the final vote in the fight to remove Donald Trump and end his lawless administration.
