DFA: Trump 2020 SOTU “an epic snow job,” “dressed-up version of…a Trump Rally”

Donald Trump just finished another lie-filled State of the Union Address.

Democracy for America Chair Charles Chamberlain released the following statement in response to the Trump State of the Union:

"Donald Trump’s speech tonight was an epic snow job and the American people won’t buy it when they know the house is on fire.

“After three years of tax giveaways to big business and the super-rich, the wealthy are doing great under Donald Trump, while millions of working people are struggling to pay sky-rocketing health insurance costs and living paycheck to paycheck with less than $400 in their bank account.

"Tonight's State of the Union was a just a dressed-up version of what you'd see at a Trump rally, with only a few less MAGA hats: Red-meat perfectly tailored to his base, and a boat-load of easily identified lies and misdirections for anyone who has been paying attention to reality." -- Charles Chamberlain, Chair, Democracy for America

“A lot of people are jaded,” desperate to see Washington “actually start to move some stuff,” said Yvette Simpson, chief executive of the progressive political action committee Democracy for America.

Ever since Congress passed Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill earlier this year, Simpson said, “we’re flatlined. There’s no real significant change that we can see for anything else on the horizon.”

If Democrats can’t break the logjam, she said, the party will pay for it in 2022. “I think it hurts the energy. I think it hurts the momentum.”
