DFA: Warren, Sanders “did everything they needed,” refocused on 2020 threat posed by corporate Dems

Tonight’s debate should effectively end the back-and-forth between Warren, Sanders, and the media that has dominated news coverage over the last 48 hours.

Statement from Democracy for America’s Chair Charles Chamberlain on tonight’s Democratic debate in Iowa:

“Tonight, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders did everything they needed to do to overcome the media-fueled scuffle of the last 48-hours and train their fire on the corporate Democratic opponents who pose the more immediate threat to a progressive victory over Donald Trump.

“Back in 2004, progressive divisions and bickering ahead of Iowa carved up our movement and allowed the establishment Democrats preferred candidate to win the nomination, and, ultimately, lose the general election. We can’t let that happen again.

“Especially given how close the race remains just 20 days ahead of the first contest, it’s critical that progressives focus our fight for the Democratic nomination against candidates supported by the corporate wing, instead of fighting each other.” -- Charles Chamberlain, Chair, Democracy for America
