New PCCC/DFA TV Ad: ” Luther Olsen vs. Poy Sippi Elementary School”

The ad depicts Jay Jones and his family in front of Poy Sippi Elementary School which is being shut down due to budget cuts voted on by Luther Olsen. "Republicans have found a way to find multimillion dollar tax cuts for rich corporations, but they cant find a way to keep my kids school open. And, it scares me to think about how this is going to affect my kids. I dont know whats going to be left for my kids when they get to be adults," explains Jay in the ad. (Full transcript and citations below.) "How can Sen. Olsen vote to close the community school that his own kids went to while giving tax breaks to millionaires? Where are his values?" asked, Charles Chamberlain, Political Director for Democracy for America. "Wisconsin voters deserve better than Luther Olsen." This new ad is being run by PCCC Recall Committee (Progressive Change Campaign Committee) and DFA Wisconsin (Democracy for America Recall Committee) Aimed at Sen. Luther Olsen (R, WI SD-14) the ad endorses opponent his Assemblyman Fred Clark whose election is August 9. The initial ad buy is $100,000 on broadcast and cable in the Green Bay and Madison media markets and begins Wednesday, July 20. The ad will run for one week, however the ad buy could be extended based on online fundraising. It's the first major PCCC/DFA ad buy in Wisconsin since the recall elections were triggered. The two groups have spent over $1 million on previous ads and Wisconsin campaign activity, and plan multiple ads in this final month. The two groups also have a national "Call Out The Vote" phone bank -- making hundreds of thousands of calls to Wisconsin voters. DFA has over 1 million members nationally, PCCC has over 750,000 members nationally. The two groups each have over 25,000 members in Wisconsin combined. Luther Olsen is part of the war on working families that is hurting schools and communities across Wisconsin -- all to give tax cuts to big corporations. BACKGROUND ON JAY JONES

Jay Jones, 42, Poy Sippi, WI. Jay and his wife, Melissa are natives of central Wisconsin. Jay is a high school history teacher and Melissa works at a community college in nearby Appleton, WI. Parents of three, Jay and Melissa two younger children -- ages ten and seven -- were students at Poy Sippi Elementary prior to the school's shutdown in June due to budget cuts imposed by State Sen. Luther Olsen and Gov. Scott Walker. Jay's children will now have to be bused nearly 15-20 miles away to an elementary school in Berlin, WI.
