Ruiz win

Burlington, VT Today, Democracy for America (DFA) celebrated as Dean Dozen candidate Raul Ruiz, a Coachella native who built a strong grassroots network throughout Californias 36 Congressional District, defeated seven term congresswoman Mary Bono Mack. DFA, anational political action committee whose early endorsement helped strengthen the campaign, worked with Ruiz to develop and identify a strong network of activists and supporters who devoted countless hours to unseat the out-of-touch Bono Mack. "I know that the huge financial boost from DFA members after the Dean Dozen endorsement helped push us over the top," said Dr. Raul Ruiz.

The polls commissioned by DFA and the response from its members threw the national spotlight on the Coachella Valley and our district. The support wereceived from DFA has been incredible and I'm very proud to be a part the Dean Dozen.

DFA raised more than $43,400 for Ruiz's campaign and commissioned numerous polls in the district which provided strong incentives for other progressive organizations to support Ruiz's candidacy. In the final weeks ofthe campaign DFA members made more than 39,900 calls into the district and had over 10,700 conversations with local voters. "I'm ecstatic", Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America, said. "Raul Ruiz is the right guy for Californias 36th District and understands the needs of thec ommunity and his constituents better than Bono Mack. He's seen firsthand how broken and backward our healthcare system is and why our communities need strong solutions to turn this country around. We're honored to have been such an early supporter of Ruiz's campaign and look forward to working with him in Washington. Congratulations to a candidate who brings a true progressive voice to Coachella Valley."
