Shea-Porter Victory

Burlington, VT Today, Democracy for America (DFA), celebrated a victory for Carol Shea-Porter in New Hampshire's First Congressional District.

DFA raised more than $44,470 for Shea-Porters campaign from the organizations national membership and hosted five action summits in New Hampshire, each a four-hour training to develop important campaign skills for volunteers.

DFA then turned these super volunteers over to the campaign. In the final weeks of the campaign DFA members made 53,010 calls into New Hampshire to elect both Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster. Shea-porter, a candidate with a long history of support from DFA and its national membership, returns to the House beginning in January.

"Last night's re-election of Carol Shea-Porter was a nail-biter," Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America, said. "I was in the district earlier in the day canvassing for Carol and the conversations I had with folks reinforced my belief that Carol will strengthen New Hampshire's economy, protect its seniors, and respect a woman's choice over her body. I want to welcome Carol back to the House and congratulate her on her victory last night."
