TAX RESPONSE: Politicians duped by Trump’s billionaire tax cut deserve “a humiliating defeat”
Today, Trump’s Republican Party is finally releasing the details of the Trump Billionaire Tax Cut and it’s as bone-crushingly bad for working families and good for the richest of the rich as expected.
Here’s a reaction to and a pledge to fight back against Trump’s Billionaire Tax Cut from Democracy for America (DFA) Chair Jim Dean:
"Much like the fight against his multiple attempts to strip millions of their healthcare earlier this year, the battle against Donald Trump's billionaire tax cuts will make it exceedingly clear which Washington politicians, both Republicans and Democrats, are doing the bidding of the mega-rich 1% and which leaders are fighting for everyone else.
"Donald Trump is and always has been a bigoted fraud desperate for the affection of the champagne-swilling moneyed class, so it should come as no surprise that the tax plan his party has produced is a mammoth giveaway to millionaires, billionaires, and multinational corporations. And, for Trump, the idea that all this will come at the expense of a single parent working three jobs to pay for his college degree or a student struggling with her medical debt is a feature, not a bug.
"The simple fact is this: The tax plan Donald Trump's Republican Party has put forward today is designed to fund the second homes and private jets of the richest of the rich and make it easier for Republicans to destroy the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid systems millions of people have paid into their whole lives and need to survive. Period. End of Story.
"The notion that Donald Trump's billionaire tax cut is focused on working and middle-class families is a dangerous joke and any Washington politician who buys it, especially Democrats, deserves a humiliating defeat at the ballot box.
