Trump “Cowers in Fear” of Immigrants

Democracy for America Executive Director Charles Chamberlain called out Donald Trump for his fear of outsiders today, in reference to Executive Orders issued yesterday and anticipated later this week focused on immigration:

“With these Executive Orders, Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants to wall-off the United States from one of our greatest historic assets: immigrants. His irrational and unfounded fear of people from other countries entering the United States reveal his profound weakness as a leader.

“It is a weakness that the American people do not share. The Statue of Liberty does not cower in fear of newcomers to America, like Donald Trump does. She stands tall, boldly holding a torch to welcome the huddled masses.

“The Senate will soon vote on whether Jeff Sessions, who helped orchestrate these heinous policies, should lead the Justice Department. That vote will show us where each Senator stands: either they are with the American people in welcoming immigrants, or they embrace the fear, paranoia, and weakness of Donald Trump. There is no middle ground.”  - - Charles Chamberlain, Executive Director, Democracy for America
