VICTORY: DFA celebrates Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s big reelection win

Rep. Ayanna Pressley has won her reelection campaign for Massachusetts’ 7th Congressional district by a landslide.

Pressley, who did not face a challenger in the Democratic primary this Summer, easily triumphed over the two write-in candidates who opposed her, as well as a candidate from the Independent Party.

Democracy for America (DFA) which also supported Pressley in her historic 2018 primary victory, made Pressley’s reelection effort one of its first endorsements of the 2020 election cycle.

DFA Chair Charles Chamberlain on Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s reelection victory:

“Two years ago, Rep. Ayanna Pressley disrupted the status quo in her historic primary victory – where she unseated a four-term incumbent and ushered in a new era of inclusive populism for MA-07 – and she has continued to disrupt the status quo every day since. Her decisive win tonight is a reflection of Rep. Pressley’s relentless pursuit of justice, and her trailblazing efforts to improve the lives of all Americans.

“In her first term in Washington, Rep. Pressley has taken on predatory credit lending industries, racial injustice, a looming eviction crisis as a result of inaction from the GOP Senate for COVID relief that will disproportionately impact communities of color, and more. In addition to her wisdom, tenacious spirit, and unyielding progressive values, Rep. Pressley also brings with her lived experience as a survivor of sexual assault and the child of an incarcerated parent that are desparately needed in the halls of Congress.

“It’s clear that Rep. Pressley will continue to fight for American families in her next term, and DFA is excited to continue work alongside her to build a better, more just nation for years to come.” -- Charles Chamberlain, Chair, Democracy for America
