Wisconsin is Ready to Recall Walker
DFAs Ground Game Continues to Exceed Expectations as Election
Nears
Burlington, VT Over this past weekend, Democracy for America
(DFA), continued to exceed organizational expectations for the Get Out The Vote
efforts in Wisconsins recall campaign. This weekend alone, DFA was able to
knock on over 38,000 doors to recall Governor Scott Walker.
Im on the ground in Wisconsin and people are fired up and are ready for
recall,said Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America. While
the Koch brothers and big business continue to try and buy the vote, everyday
people like you and me are getting out and getting active in their communities. This is grassroots activism at its finest. In the 15-month long campaign Democracy
for America has already:
Knocked
on over 233,500 doors to identify Wisconsin voters who support the recall
efforts;
Made
over 411,500 phone calls in over 36 counties across the state; and
Over
4000 DFA members have volunteered their time to help in the recall efforts.
The assault on
working families has continued for far too long in this country, Jim Dean continued. When Scott Walker
made it a priority to balance the budget on the backs of hard working people in
Wisconsin the people stood up and said enough. The determination and
tenacity of Wisconsinites to demand fair pay sent shockwaves through our nation.
GOP cronies like Gov. Walker may try to break our spirits and diminish our pay,
but democracy wasnt created for only the richest 1 percent it was created
for everyone. Wisconsinites are taking
democracy and their state back.
Democracy for America has been on the ground in Wisconsin fighting back and
protecting working families for the past 15 months. DFA organizers are
leading three major get out the vote efforts in Racine, Madison and Eau
Claire.
