DFA’s Democratic primary pulse poll paves the way for Barack Obama

By October 2007, the media claimed Hillary Clinton had the primary squared away with an unbeatable lead in every national poll. Yet foreshadowing the upcoming 50 state primary battle that ultimately elected Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee, DFA members proved the media wrong when 95% of the more than 150,000 votes cast in our Presidential Pulse Poll went to the other candidates such as Obama, Dennis Kucinich and John Edwards.

The results of the poll led DFA to push Democrats in Iowa to Unite for a Progressive President before leaving their caucus and helped to pave the way for insurgent Senator Barack Obama to take first place.
