Governor Dean returns to DFA to lead one of the largest issue campaigns in our 10 year history; the fight for a public option in any healthcare bill. More than 400,000 DFA members signed the petition and stood with Dr. Dean fighting for over a year in a campaign that helped pass the Affordable Care Act despite unified Republican opposition. 

In a game of political "Wack-a-Mole," every time Republicans stood against the public option, DFA members called them out and exposed them for working for the insurance industry and against the American people. But DFA members were never afraid to take on weak Democrats, using polling, TV ads, and traditional media to get the message across: Any member of Congress who votes against the American people and for a bill without a public option will stand alone for reelection.
