Former Cincinnati City Council President Pro Tem (2013-2017) and DFA endorsed candidate for Mayor (2017), Yvette Simpson becomes the first woman to serve as the Chief Executive at DFA and the first woman of color in an executive leadership role.
 
Yvette joined the team as the organization's Federal Electoral Manager during the second half of 2018 working to recruit and support the strong, diverse slate of federal candidates in the midterm election that lead to a Democratic wave and flipped control of the U.S. House.  
 
Having grown-up in public housing and raised by her grandmother, she became the first in her family to graduate college, earning a BA in Political Science, a BS in Communications, and a JD specializing in employment law.
 
Yvette's passion for political service started in 2008 when she served as a member of the Ohio Voter Protection Team as a Legal Observer. She later served on the Steering Committee for the Women's Fund and as Vice Chair of the State Central Committee for the Ohio Democratic Party.
 
With DFA celebrating its history-making 15th year, Yvette looks forward to leading the charge in support of inclusive populist candidates in local and state elections nationwide in 2019 and beyond.
