VICTORY: DFA cheers as “relentless grassroots organizer” Cori Bush heads to Congress

Cori Bush has won the general election in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District by a wide margin after her upset primary victory in August.

After endorsing her first primary run in 2018, Democracy for America endorsed Bush and joined the progressive-led coalition behind her during the 2020 general election.

DFA Chair Charles Chamberlain on Cori Bush’s win in MO-01 Congressional District:

“With Cori Bush general election victory tonight, Missouri’s 1st Congressional District has officially sent a relentless grassroots organizer to Congress and that we know will be one of the most fearless progressive leaders of her incoming Congressional class.

“From organizing Black Lives Protests in her hometown of St. Louis to supporting her children while living paycheck-to-paycheck, Bush has a deep understanding of the struggle working families face every day and will bring her desperately-needed lived experience with her to Washington.

“Democracy for America members were honored to stand with Cori Bush back in 2018 and we’re excited to know that she’ll be joining ‘The Squad’ on Capitol Hill after her triumph tonight. We know that Representative-elect Bush will be at the forefront of the fight for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and an economy that works for all Americans, and we can’t wait to fight alongside her.” -- Charles Chamberlain, Chair, Democracy for America
