VICTORY: DFA ready for Rev. Raphael Warnock GA Senate run-off after clear first round victory

Reverend Raphael Warnock has placed in the January run-off election for Georgia’s U.S. Senate Special Election -- bringing Democrats one step closer to flipping this seat in the Senate with a strong progressive voice.

Democracy for America endorsed Warnock in February.

DFA Chair Charles Chamberlain Reverend Raphael Warnock’s victory:

“Reverend Raphael Warnock’s clear first-round victory in Georgia’s U.S. Senate Special Election makes for a strong night for Georgia Democrats -- that could get stronger yet as votes continue to be counted.

“Faced with a deadly global pandemic and impending financial crisis, Sen. Loeffler used insider information to profit off the crisis while leaving tens of thousands of Georgians wondering if the Senate would ever get around to pass the second round of coronavirus relief. In the wake of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s brutal and senseless murders, Sen. Loeffler refused to denounce systemic racism and rejected the Black Lives Matter movement.

“A lifelong champion for voting rights, criminal justice reform, and health care, Rev. Warnock won’t just be an improvement over Sen. Loeffler, he’ll be a transformative leader that will make all Georgians proud.

“Democracy for America members could not be more thrilled by the results in this race, and we’re eager to help Warnock finish the job and win this Senate seat for progressives everywhere.” -- Charles Chamberlain, Chair, Democracy for America
